Sedation

Many children can benefit from taking a medication that will help them feel more comfortable at the dentist. Sedation can be offered in the office, as opposed to going to a different office for general anesthesia. Sedation will make your child very sleepy, and they will want to take a nap in the dental chair. This is best for a patient who needs less than 1 hour of treatment, and is willing to drink their medication.

About Dr. Ryan

Dr. Ryan is from the Philadelphia Suburbs. He graduated from Temple University’s Dental School in 2016. After dental school Dr. Ryan served as a dentist in the United States Navy. While in the military he and his wife lived in San Diego, California, Okinawa, Japan, and Quantico, Virginia.

  Where do I even begin! Pediatric Dental Excellence has been amazing for my son. Dr. Ryan is super patient and genuinely great with kids. He made my son feel completely comfortable.   We had such a wonderful experience with this pediatric dental office! I was able to get an emergency dental appointment with a day.
Dr. Ryan was incredibly patient, gentle, and skilled at explaining everything in a great way. He took the time to answer all my questions and helped us feel completely at ease.
My 6 years old need a tooth pulled and Dr. Ryan explained each step in a kid-friendly way, never rushing and made sure my son felt safe throughout the entire procedure.
The tooth extraction was quick, gentle, and far less stressful than I expected.
What impressed me even more was that Dr. Ryan sent us a message the following day to check on Henry and make sure he was recovering well.

  My 8-year old had her first real dental procedure today and after much research we finally decided on Dr Ryan to take care of her.   My son had his 1st visit at Pediatric Dental Excellence today and it was such a great experience all around. Both Dr. Ryan and his hygienist were incredible. They chatted with my son the whole time to make sure he was comfortable while also explaining to him everything they did. He’s super curious and asks tons of questions about everything (which can be exhausting sometimes as a parent haha), but the staff happily answered every question and made it a fun, positived, and informative visit for him. Dr Ryan also chatted with me to see if I had any questions/concerns about my sons teeth, which I did not, but if I did, I am sure he would have gladly answered all of them.   The staff is really great! Very nice and friendly. The place is awesome for kids, things for them to do while you wait to go back. Didnt wait long in the lobby before they called my son, it was a very quick. Its really a great dentist, I was impressed!

  My child was quite nervous but the staff made him feel at ease, letting him know what was happening at every step. He was able to watch TV and given little breaks, even so the whole appointment was less than an hour. High marks!

  This is one of the best Pediatrics office in Philadelphia. Excellent costumer service from the front desk ladies. Doctor Ryan is phenomenal at what he does & made my 4 yr feel comfortable & relaxed while getting his fillings done. He was so informative & patient. Most offices rush you through just to get to the next patient. He took his time with us & really heard out all my questions & concerns. He also has an amazing sense of humor 😁 Great dental assistants in the back, extremely professional & pleasant. I am a dental assistant myself, been in the field for 16yrs & I am extremely picky when it comes to choosing the right dentist. Thanks to PDE I found the perfect dental office for my children 🫶🏼
