Children get twenty baby teeth – and we have them all covered…
Exams and Cleanings
Exams and Cleanings help to remove “tartar” from both above and below the gums, leaving the teeth whiter and gums healthier. Cleanings are usually fun and allow your child to become comfortable at the dental office. We recommend a “check up” appointment every 6 months. Did you know many
public schools require check-ups?
Low Radiation Xrays
Xrays allow us to see parts of the tooth that the eye can not see. Xrays let us make sure our exam is not missing any hidden cavities. Pediatric Dental Excellence uses 100% digital Xrays and phosphorous plate technology to minimize your child’s exposure to Xray radiation. At our office, A typical set of Xrays is less radiation than if your child were to fly on an airplane. They are totally safe! We are happy to review your child’s Xrays with you! We love to explain the “why”.
Sealants
Sealants help prevent cavities from starting. It turns out that most cavities start on the chewing surface of the tooth (the top). Even the best tooth brusher misses some spots. Sealants help to cover areas of the tooth that are hard to clean. Sealants do not last forever, but if we place them, we will fix them as long as your child is a patient of our office.
Crowns
Sometimes teeth need extra protection after a bigger cavity or a chipped tooth. A crown covers the whole tooth, offering total protection. This can be silver or tooth colored. Parents have the option.
Extractions
There are many reasons why a tooth may need to come out. We extract both baby teeth and adult teeth.
Fillings
Cavities happen. Pediatric Dental Excellence fixes cavities with tooth colored, or silver fillings. Parents have the option.
Fluoride Treatment
The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends fluoride as a way to help reduce cavities. We provide Fluoride Varnish to help strengthen your child’s teeth.
Oral Hygiene Instructions and Caries Risk Assessment
Oral Hygiene Instruction and Caries Risk Assessment are fancy ways of saying we can help teach your child how to brush and floss properly, all while educating them on what foods are good or bad for the teeth. We are also happy to help parents learn the skills needed to keep their children’s teeth healthy!
Roots Canals
We do Root Canals on both baby teeth and adult teeth. Root Canals clean the inside of the tooth when the nerve is no longer healthy.
Laughing Gas
Laughing Gas is Nitrous Oxide, a gas breathed in that will help to relax your child for their procedure. It is safe, and the effects of the gas go away almost instantly when your child breathes regular room air again.
Sedation
Oral Conscious Sedation is for the child who has lots of anxiety at the dentist. We have your child drink medication that will make them very sleepy, so sleepy they will choose to take a nap in the dental chair.
General Anesthesia
Some children need to be fully asleep for their dental procedures. Pediatric Dental Excellence offers this service through our affiliate dental surgical locations.
Silver Diamine Fluoride
Silver Diamine Fluoride is one of the newest medications used in pediatric dentistry because it can “freeze” a cavity. Sometimes it can be used instead of placing a filling. No injection, no drilling, no pain.
Space Maintainers
Space maintainers keep teeth from moving after a tooth has been extracted.
Second Opinions
Parents want to be well informed, and feel confident about their children's treatment. Pediatric Dental Excellence understands this, and offers appointments specifically for a “second opinion”. We will examine, take Xrays, and discuss what your child needs to have 100% healthy teeth and gums.
Tongue Tie & Lip Tie
Pediatric Dental Excellence treats tongue tie and lip tie in the office. Not all children who have tongue tie or lip tie need their's to be released. We will help you make the decision if the procedure is necessary.
